Miller finished his American education at the State University of New York, then traveled to Asia-looking "to find peace and become peace," as he told Spiro in Monthly Aspectarian. That's when the young man's good friend, Allison Krause, was one of four Kent State University students shot to death by the Ohio National Guard during a 1970 antiwar demonstration.
